ProTac Acrylic Emulsion Adhesive, by Monster Makers
Product ID MM-1521

ProTac Acrylic Emulsion Adhesive, by Monster Makers

  • Description

ProTac Acrylic Emulsion Adhesive, by Monster Makers has been used in hundreds of major film, TV and, stage productions because of the high quality and dependability it delivers.  This is an outstanding contact style adhesive (applied to both skin and appliance and then pressed together) for durability in a strong tenacious bond with high moisture resistance.  It dries crystal clear, and provides excellent flexibility with the movement of the appliance. It is non-toxic and completely safe to use on all skin types, including around sensitive areas.

ProTac Acrylic Emulsion Adhesive is a great economic alternative to similar acrylic emulsion adhesives, and contains no rubber based components (latex).  It is completely waterproof once dry and in contact with skin.  The liquid can be thinned with distilled water, or thickened by adding a Cabosil type (fumed silica) ingredient to create a paste for blending edges, filling in ridges or making prosthetic transfer material.  It can be mixed with cosmetic grade pigments or acrylic paints to create a budge-proof and waterproof skin and appliance paint (PAX Paint).

To use: apply an even layer onto the skin where the prosthetic will be placed.  Then brush on an even layer on the back/inside of the appliance piece.  Let both dry first until crystal clear, and then press both adhesive surfaces firmly together until a strong bond is achieved. Continue to press down and smoothing down and out the edges of the appliance.  Once the skin warms the adhesion contact between the skin and appliance it increases the strength of the bond.

NOTE: Be careful not to let the appliance it fold over onto itself before you apply it to skin, as ProTac is VERY sticky and will stick to itself and be virtually impossible to get unstuck without using a remover.  Avoid using adhesive, or any adhesive for that matter, near the eye area.

To remove the appliance: We strongly recommend Paint and Powder Cosmetics Isopropyl Myristate, MM-1522 which is the industry standard in quick detachment of the adhesive bond, so that you can lift the appliance away from the skin.  It also works to remove any adhesive residue.  We also recommend Graftobian Pro Adhesive Remover, MM-1005 , because it doesn’t contain any Naphtha, a very strong solvent that can cause serious skin irritation.

Find an edge of the appliance that has some lift to it. Then, work some remover with a soft brush or cotton swab under that edge of the appliance to ease the lift and release the appliance from the skin. Do not pull or rip up the appliance, let the remover do its job.  Continue on with more remover in this fashion until the appliance is completely lifted off.  Be patient, as this is a slow process in order not to unduly irritate skin.  Apply more remover to clean away any adhesive residue remaining on skin. Follow with a light moisturizer to soothe and help bring skin’s pH back to normal.

8 oz. bottle.
