Thix-Sil™ Thixotropic Agent - Thickener For Platinum & Tin Silicone is especially important to use if you are going to cast a super soft Shore A Hardness silicone, such as TraumaSkin FX™ Platinum Silicone Sculpting/Casting Medium, MM-1002, into a rigid mold or use it for freehand sculpting in creating direct to skin appliances. It results in a firmer and more realistic end result. It's also important to add to the silicone if you need to facilitate a thicker vertical surface application with brush-on methods.
Different viscosities can be attained by varying the amount of Thix-Sil™, which is added as a percentage of Part A, and must be thoroughly mixed with Parts A and B before proceeding on to your next step. Add desired amounts of Thix-Sil™ to material and mix thoroughly, being sure to scrape the sides and bottom of the mixing container several times while mixing. Be aware of your working pot life time when mixing, and pouring or brushing the silicone compound in it's liquid stage.
Because no two applications are quite the same, we strongly suggest a small test run to determine thickness desirability for your project. Different viscosities and densities in resulting appliances may be attained by varying the amount of Thix-Sil™ added to Part A. A general rule of thumb to begin with is adding 1 drop for every 1" diameter of poured Part A, and mix both Part A and Part B thoroughly.
