TraumaSkin FX Prosthetic Appliance Plate Mold - Bullet Exit Wound
TraumaSkin FX Prosthetic Appliance Plate Mold - Bullet Exit Wound

Actual wounds cast from this mold will vary according to the user's selection and application of materials, and any coloring agents used.

This mold is from a hand sculpted replica of an actual injury so you can be sure you are portraying true realism in your appliance castings from this mold.  The mold plate is  the very same professional quality used by Award Winning Hollywood SFX artists for their film and TV work.  They are available in both high strength/hardness gypsum plaster and premium platinum cure silicone, which are two of the very best materials that provide long library life use.

The plaster version is ideal for casting latex, gelatin, acrylic vinyl, silicones, encapsulant plastic (cap plastic) and gel filled appliance type materials.  The platinum silicone mold is flexible, and perfect for casting gelatins and prosthetic transfer type of materials (cabosil type thickeners mixed with acrylic adhesive known as bondo transfers).  Both styles of molds are extremely durable for long use and will provide you with limitless pours and pulls of this style of wound in an exact likeness.

When using casting materials in the plaster version mold, we strongly suggest using a professional release agent appropriate for the casting material, such as Mann Ease Release 200, MM-1313.  Casting mediums that are ideal for the plaster mold are: TraumaSkin FX™ Platinum Silicone Sculpting/Casting Medium, MM-1002, TraumaSkin FX™ Platinum Silicone Sculpt and Model Gel, MM-1421, Smooth-On Dragon Skin F/X Pro, MM-1327, TraumaSkin FX™ Vinyl-SFX™ Liquid Medium, MM-1284, Paint and Powder Cosmetics RD-407 Mask-Making/Slip Liquid Latex, MM-1033 (see caution below), Michael Davy Plastic Appliance and Scar Material, MM-1404, Cinema Secrets Bondo "Cabo-Patch" Appliance Filler, MM-1196, and TraumaSkin FX™ 3-D Casualty Simulation Gelatin, MM-1301.

When using casting materials in the silicone mold we strongly suggest using a release agent appropriate to the casting material, such as Mann Ease Release 200, MM-1313.  Or, you can brush in a mixture of 2 parts of alcohol to 1 part dish washing soap; or petroleum jelly thinned with Naphtha (to avoid brush strokes); or a plastic encapsulating material if you are making gel filled appliances or acrylic adhesive based appliances.

WARNING: Do NOT cast any silicone directly into this silicone mold without proper mold preparation first as you will risk permanent lamination of both silicone materials, and permanently ruin the mold.  Make sure you use a release agent as directed above.  Once the silicone mold is properly prepared for a silicone based casting material we suggest: TraumaSkin FX™ Platinum Silicone Sculpting/Casting Medium, MM-1002, TraumaSkin FX™ Platinum Silicone Sculpt and Model Gel, MM-1421, or Smooth-On Dragon Skin F/X Pro, MM-1327.

Other casting mediums that are ideal for the silicone mold are: MEL Products MEL Gel Prosthetic Cream, MM-1473, TraumaSkin FX™ Prosthetic Transfer & Blending Paste, MM-1288, or any type of prosthetic transfer appropriate medium that will pull from a properly prepared silicone mold.  You can also use TraumaSkin FX™ 3-D Casualty Simulation Gelatin, MM-1301,  Cinema Secrets Bondo "Cabo-Patch" Appliance Filler, MM-1196, RCMA P.M.A Molding Material, MM-1363, and Michael Davy Plastic Appliance and Scar Material, MM-1404, or TraumaSkin FX™
Vinyl-SFX™ Liquid Medium, MM-1284.

CAUTION: You may run latex in either the plaster or silicone molds if you wish, and we suggest Paint and Powder Cosmetics RD-407 Mask-Making/Slip Liquid Latex, MM-1033.  Understand that once latex is cured and pulled from either the plaster or silicone molds you will not ever be able to run silicone through them again.  Latex is an inhibitor to silicone, and when latex comes in contact with a mold the surface "absorbs" the residual latex proteins from the pull.  Therefore, inhibition becomes present and liquid silicone will no longer catalyze (set up) in the mold.  So choose to dedicate either silicone (and the other non-latex materials mentioned above) or latex when using these molds.  If you work with both silicone and latex, then you will want to have two separate dedicated molds one exclusively for latex use, and one exclusively for running silicone and the other materials mentioned above.

These molds are for professional use only, and it is assumed that the buyer/user is acquainted with how to use casting mediums and their processes.  Paint and Powder Cosmetics assumes no liability in how these molds or casting mediums are used or misused by the buyer/user and their associates.
